Everbody’s Darling Cate Blanchett
We will be watching Cate Blanchett this summer in the movie theatres with Ocean’s 8. She has been pretty busy this year. Blanchett was the president of the Cannes Film Festival jury. And the famous actress has become the muse of fashion designer Giorgio Armani. She is now the new global beauty ambassador for Giorgio Armani beauty.
Cate Blanchett met her husband Andrew Upton, also an actor, when Cate performed in a stage production of The Seagull. After just a few weeks of dating, Andrew Upton proposed to Blanchett. They got married in 1997 and have three sons together – Dashiell, Roman, and Ignatius, She doesn’t rule out the possibility of more babies. “Who knows?” she says. “Don’t close those doors. The world is very overpopulated, but we do make nice ones.”
The family is very close. Blanchett and Upton’s three boys practically grew up on the theatre stage, where their parents were rehearsing. Blanchett had taken time off from the movies, in order to spend more time with her kids. Only when the kids were at a certain age did she return to making movies.
Cate Blanchett has become a muse for Giorgio Armani, frequently wearing his creations on the red carpet. Her role is expanding into the designer’s beauty brand, too. The actress has been the face of Armani fragrances. Just recently she has been confirmed as the global beauty ambassador of the brand. “I have known and admired Cate Blanchett for many years,” Giorgio Armani says. “As I was developing the S! project, defining the fragrance and imagining the bottle, I instinctively thought of her, and of the passion that can be perceived behind her impeccable manners and confident look. A seductive combination that fully respects the spirit of my new perfume.”
Cate Blanchett was the first celebrity to represent Giorgio Armani fragrances, which has relied on models in previous years. “With my very first paycheck as an actress, I bought an Armani suit, and I still have it and love it,” says Blanchett. “For me, fragrance contains memory, the scent of your mother, your friends… I think fragrance is a really subtle but important way in which women express themselves and express who they aspire to be.”
And now, a few years later Cate Blanchett has been selected to be the global ambassador of Giorgio Armani beauty. The collaboration between her and the brand has expanded from one perfume to all perfumes and then to the whole brand. What a beautiful collaboration!
