Rita Ora – Her Power Is In Her Freedom

Rita Ora – Her Power Is In Her Freedom

With her second album Phoenix out, Rita Ora now shows us her passion for fashion. Her brand new collaboration with the fashion brand Escada gives the brand a younger image.

Rita Ora, born in Kosova and raised in North London, has already become a star in her own right. Her love life, what she wears, how she lives her life, everything is questioned by the paparazzi. As for her career, the last 13 songs she has put out has entered the “Top Ten” list. This success has brought her a record, making her the first British woman singer to hold this record. This record previously belonged to Shirley Bassey, who held it for 30 years. It seems like 2018 has brought luck to Rita Ora. She put out her second album after a decade… Phoenix. And her album tour will be going on throughout 2019.

A FASHION ICON

During a season in which Global Design Director Niall Sloan consolidated a contemporary vision of the Escada woman with his Spring/Summer 2019 New York runway show, the brand introduces a new facet of its evolution: the appointment of Rita Ora as its house ambassador. A musician whose talent, independence and creativity have established her as a household name, and whose fearless and individual approach to style have found her celebrated as a modern fashion icon. She exemplifies the Escada spirit: at once powerful and irreverent, and indisputably in charge of her own destiny. Alongside starring in the Spring/Summer 2019 Escada fashion campaign, which exemplifies the playful yet luxurious aesthetic at the heart of the collection, Rita will play an on-going role in Escada’s bold new narrative throughout 2019. The larger than life campaign, inspired by Escada’s house codes, was shot by photographer Craig McDean. The campaign was styled by Jacob K. Hair was styled by Sam McKnight and make-up was created by Isamaya French.

“I am so excited to have shot the new Spring / Summer 19 campaign with Escada” Says Rita Ora. “The brand has such bold beginnings and I love that their DNA centers around bright colours, powerful prints and strong women. I can’t wait to unveil more about our collaboration soon!” “Our founder, Margaretha Ley, made her name dressing strong women.” Says Niall Sloan, Global Design Director of Escada. “She armed them with a wardrobe to break glass ceilings in business in the 70s, 80s and 90s, leaving an indelible mark on the fashion of the period. Rita embodies the spirit of those women. She knows her own voice, has built her own empire and continues to prove it’s possible to cut your own path, with self-belief, talent and a great sense of humour. As such, she is a true Escada woman.” As Escada has found its new voice, it is fitting to appoint a female musician whose sound reverberates throughout contemporary culture as its ambassador for 2019. This moment reflects the realization of Niall Sloan’s modern vision for Escada: a bold, joyful optimism, proudly rooted in the house’s history, but ever evolving it into the future.
