Older sister Gigi is definitely one of the most popular models of our day, appearing on the catwalk of major fashion brands in all New York, Paris, Milan and London fashion weeks. She is followed on social media by millions.

A few years ago, Gigi Hadid was just another high school senior playing volleyball in sunny California. Today, Hadid has become a near-overnight sensation and one of the fashion industry’s bona fide It girls.

It was Carine Roitfeld who helped put the 20-year-old’s career into overdrive, leading to covers for CR Fashion Book and Harper’s Bazaar, Tom Ford campaign shoots, and a spot on Chanel’s runway. “I was drawn to her right away because she was so different, and I love girls that are different—different from me, different from what everyone has seen before,” Roitfeld said. “I knew immediately that she was going to be a star. It is not just the look or the personality, but the feeling you get when you meet them. You believe they have what it takes, and so you do everything to make it happen for them.”

Hadid has branched out on her own and landed major work in the past few months, including her recent Maybelline New York contract, continuing work with Guess, and a new role with Victoria’s Secret Pink.

With a killer work ethic, a sense of humor, and humility—and famous friends like Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner, who make frequent cameos in her Instagram selfies—Hadid has landed the Model of the Year Award.

Hadid was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of real-estate developer Mohamed Hadid and former model Yolanda Foster. Following her parents’ divorce, her mother married music producer David Foster. Hadid attended Malibu High School where she was captain of the varsity volleyball team as well as a competitive horseback rider. She graduated in 2013.

Following high school, she moved to New York City to focus on her modeling career.

Her modeling career started when she was 2 years old after she was discovered by Paul Marciano, of Guess. She started modeling with Baby Guess. Then, she stopped so she could concentrate in school. She eventually got back to modeling, continued working with them, and was named the face of the Guess campaign in 2012. She has done three campaigns with Guess as an adult.

In February 2014, she made her New York Fashion Week debut by modeling at Desigual’s show.

She has appeared in music videos, playing Australian singer Cody Simpson’s love interest in the video for his song “Surfboard” which was released on April 14, 2014. She has also appeared on another music video, playing the love interest of American grammy-winner singer Miguel’s song “Simplethings” which released on May 29, 2014.

Hadid appeared in the 2015 Pirelli calendar.

In January 2015, she was named a Maybelline brand ambassador.

Gigi paved the way for her younger sister Bella, who also became a model. Bella is not as outgoing as her sister but has earned success in her own right. She also appears on the catwalk of famous brands in fashion weks around the world.

Now the youngest Hadid, Anwar has started modeling. Who knows, maybe he will become as famous as them.

The family became famous with the reality show ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ that is viewed by millions around the world.

Kim Kardashian added to her fame by marrying singer Kanye West. They have two daughters and seem to be the “it couple” of all times.

Now Kendall Jenner has turned 21 and enjoys her own fame earned by modeling. She is one of the most followed, most photographed people in the world. Judging by her active twitter and instagram accounts follo- wed by millions, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that she enjoys this fame. She also has a fashion line with her sister Kylie called KendallandKylie.

Kendall Jenner has become the darling of most of the top fashion designers. She walked the catwalk in most fashion shows during the Paris and New York fashion weeks, this past february and march. She is the model Karl Lagerfeld named a hat after. The Kendall, a black rabbit-fur felt hat that is a limited-edition Karl Lagerfeld design is sold exclusively at Selfridges.

With his millions of online followers and impressive media reach, 20-year-old Lucky Blue Smith is arguably the year’s biggest male model.
